Host A Donation Drive

Make an impact in your community while supporting Goodwill of Greater Detroit’s mission to help individuals overcome barriers and find meaningful employment.

Host A Donation Drive

Hosting a donation drive is an easy way to give back whether you’re a school, business, community organization, faith group, or neighborhood team.

Ninety-two cents of every dollar earned through Goodwill of Greater Detroit stores supports personal and workforce development programming.

How It Works

1. Build Your Team: Gather a small group of volunteers such as employees, students, parents, faith groups, or neighbors to help organize and promote the drive.

2. Confirm Approval & Logistics: Get approval from your organization’s leadership so you can promote the event and know where to place donation bins in visible, high-traffic areas.

3. Choose Your Date: Contact philanthropy@goodwilldetroit.org to work with Goodwill of Greater Detroit to select the best one-day or multi-day window for your drive.

4. Set a Goal: Create excitement with a friendly competition or a group challenge between departments, classrooms or community teams.

5. Promote Your Drive: Begin promoting at least two weeks in advance. Use posters, emails, social media, newsletters, announcements, or a simple information table.

6. Place Donation Bins: Goodwill of Greater Detroit will deliver large collection bins and place them in the secure, designated areas you identify.

7. Share the Results: Thank your participants, celebrate your community’s impact, and share your results. Goodwill will weigh all donated items and provide the total pounds collected.
