Volunteer
The Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit Volunteer Program allows people to complete community service or volunteer hours in the Metro Detroit.
Volunteers can choose from seven different locations.
Why Volunteer with Us?
Volunteering with Goodwill Detroit presents you with a unique working environment. Your time with us can help you improve your current skills, or offer a chance to gain new ones.
While volunteering in our retail stores, you can make your own schedule. This way you can fit in time to volunteer around work, school or other life priorities.
While volunteering with us, you are helping to improve the Metro Detroit community. You will also be supporting Goodwill Detroit’s efforts to help local Detroiters become trained and ready to work.
Volunteer with Donated Goods
Each one of our stores needs volunteers. We have store locations in Dearborn, Livonia, Woodhaven, Ypsilanti, Canton, Commerce and Madison Heights. The stores are open throughout the week, on the weekends, and in the evenings. We also have a warehouse location on the west side of Detroit. These working conditions may be more weather dependent and labor intensive.
Volunteers help stock shelves, move furniture, sort donated items, and more. While this may not seem like much, this work is a powerful piece of our mission. Every sale made in our retail stores helps to fund the many programs and services that Goodwill offers. You can learn more about these programs here.
