Since 1921, Goodwill of Greater Detroit has been a leader in making a difference in people’s lives. We are committed to providing second chances, growing and restoring independence and improving the quality of life for our community members, while helping the planet through our sustainability practices. With the support of our community partners, employers and our nonprofit businesses we provide career training, social services, job placement, retention services and work opportunities to thousands of metro Detroiters with employment barriers.

Flip The Script

Our nationally recognized anti-recidivism program fosters second chances for returning citizens and alternative sentencing programs for those on probation, providing professional support and personal coaching to help them get back on their feet and avoid re-offending. Learn More

Our comprehensive career academy readies Metro Detroiters for careers in high demand, high wage careers, including welding, construction and customer service. Learn More

Career Centers

As part of the statewide Michigan Works! Association, our career centers equip metro Detroiters with free resources and workshops they need to prepare for and find employment. We also assist businesses in locating employees. Learn More

A Place of Our Own Clubhouse

Our Clubhouse immerses those with mental illness in a collaborative, supportive community environment while offering transitional work experience, supported employment and independent employment. Learn More

Life Skills

Goodwill’s Life Skills services help adults living with intellectual and developmental strengthen employment skills, financial literacy, communication, socialization, healthy living and daily living leading to increased independence. Learn More

Supports Coordination

Goodwill’s Supports Coordination team helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities navigate support services in their communities. Each participant receives a tailor-made plan to help them reach their goals. Learn More

Goodwill Donated Goods Retail Stores

Goodwill of Greater Detroit is dedicated to helping our communities. Our stores offer a sustainable solution to the environment, reselling gently-used clothing and household items that would otherwise end up in landfills. Proceeds support our mission programs, which help local residents find independence through personal development and a living wage. Ninety-two cents on every dollar spent at our stores supports personal and workforce development programming.

Goodwill’s Green Works

Goodwill’s Green Works recycles waste materials from industrial structures. Using the commodity market, Green Works breaks down scrap material and resells and distributes them for the opportunity at a second life. Green Works provides training and industrial recycling employment opportunities to people who have REAL employment challenges like our returning citizens and chronic unemployed residents. Goodwill Integrated Solutions provides packaging, distribution, kitting, light assembly, rework, and audit/inspection services. Goodwill Integrated Solutions is focused on helping individuals with significant employment barriers obtain and retain employment, earn a living wage, and start on a career path with opportunities for advancement.
