Life Skills Services

Goodwill of Greater Detroit’s Life Skills program empowers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a comprehensive range of supportive services that promote growth and independence. Participants build and strengthen functional skills in employment, financial literacy, communication, socialization, healthy and daily living, supporting greater personal independence.

A cornerstone of our Life Skill program is access to paid transitional work experiences tailored to individual interests. By integrating employment with classroom learning, the program offers a holistic, person-centered approach that prepares participants for meaningful, sustained work opportunities and increased participation in their communities.

Admission Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must have an intellectual or developmental disability.
Must be a resident of Wayne County.

Life Skills is funded by Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN).

As Goodwill’s Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan (PIHP) Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) funds all Goodwill Behavioral Health programming including Supports Coordination and Life Skill services.

To receive Behavioral Health Services for Supports Coordination or Life Skill services an individual must be at least 18 years old with a diagnosis of Intellectual or Developmental Disability (I/DD).
