School to Work Transition and Vocational Counseling for Lutz Students

Who can register?

For School to Work Transition: High School students with disabilities working with a MRS or private rehabilitation counselor in need of determining their skills and readiness for training or employment.  Students must be enrolled in a participating school.
For Vocational Counseling for Lutz School: Students must be young Adults (18 – 26) who have not taken their high school diploma. Students must be cognitively impaired or fall under the category of autism spectrum disorder.  Must be a resident of Macomb County and be enrolled in the Macomb Intermediate School District.

Must be enrolled and referred by the Michigan Rehabilitation Services or a private rehabilitation agency

Description:

School to Work Transition: Individuals will participate in activities, training and field trips to help you identify job skills and vocational interests. Persons will learn how to answer questions in a job interview and assist in developing a resume for job searches. Job development assistance is provided
Lutz School Program: Students work with counselor to do intake, determine eligibility, write plan of service, vocational training and plan for follow along services.  Parents/caregivers are assisted to coordinate employment and training services for students, such as the Lutz Work Study program, classroom vocational training, referral and coordination of services for students with DHS, CMH, Social Security, and Secretary of State.  Students may participate in work assessments, job development and employment follow up, and mobility training.  Students participate in community field trips to vocational training agencies and community advocacy agencies.  Parents/caregivers are assisted in ensuring that students aging out of Lutz School are enrolled in adult programs appropriate to their needs.
