Dollars For Jobs - Pass It Forward

This is your chance to make a difference in the fight for Detroit area jobs.

You can donate “dollars for jobs” right here:

Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit announces the start of an initiative  - “Dollars For Jobs – Pass It Forward” - to raise funds to help unemployed workers get back on the job. The program encourages community giving to provide training and employment opportunities for Metro Detroiters who need jobs. The campaign runs Sunday, September 9 through Sunday, September 30 and features envelopes that can be filled with dollar bills and passed from person to person until reaching 25 people. For as little as a $1 donation, anyone can contribute to fighting unemployment in Southeast Michigan.

Once an envelope contains $25 or more, it should be returned to one of the 43 participating Biggby Coffee locations, where returning the envelope earns a special discount offer. The “Dollars for Jobs – Pass It Forward” funds are used to grow a range of employment education and training programs and to support new job opportunities that help real people earn real jobs throughout Metro Detroit.

Dollars For Jobs – Pass It Forward sponsors and partners include Detroit Lions and Detroit Lions Charities, Quicken Loans, Biggby Coffee, GalaxE.Solutions and the Detroit Newspaper Partnership. Detroit Lions Wide Receiver Nate Burleson is the spokesperson for the campaign.

“The unemployment crisis in our community can seem overwhelming. Many Metro Detroiters want to help but are unsure how to make an impact. ‘Dollars for Jobs’ is the answer,” said Lorna G. Utley, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. “This program demonstrates that a small donation can create progress when combined with the efforts of our friends and neighbors.”

“In 2011, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit helped more than 17,000 people,” said Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit Vice President Lindsay Chalmers. “Programs like Dollars for Jobs help raise funds to ensure we can continue to provide training and job placement services to the community.”

Metro Detroiters interested in supporting the “Dollars for Jobs – Pass It Forward” campaign can download an envelope or make a financial contribution directly and at http://www.dollarsforjobs.org.
