Flip the Script Women's Services
Flip the Script Women's Services
Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit Flip the Script Women’s programming has become one of Detroit’s fastest growing, exciting, spiritually galvanizing and most demanded women’s empowerment services mirroring the highly successful and nationally respected Flip the Script Male Empowerment and employment programs. In launching women’s specific services in 2009, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit responded to a high demand, need, and numerous calls for holistic, outcome-based and career focused entry level programming addressing and focusing on the critical issues facing 21st century women, specifically young single mothers and women coping with trauma because of poor choices and past life experiences.
The success of Flip the Script Women’s services continues Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit’s rich tradition as a leader in workforce development industry and an advocate against high unemployment and underemployment in the City of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan. Flip the Script women’s services systematically addresses common as well as hidden and unique challenges women face living in the City of Detroit and surrounding areas. Issues Flip the Script addresses extend far beyond simply employability and employment. Women gender specific curriculums offer opportunities for true career development, through holistic and self-empowerment in developing a spiritually healthy and “ready for work” employee. Flip the Script program administrators and staff are experienced in identifying and addressing the “hidden and root causes, obstacles and barriers” adversely affecting the lives and professional matriculation process of unemployed, underemployed single moms, women dealing with chronic emotional trauma and women returning home after incarceration.
An integral part of the women’s program services has been the development of “BEYOND THE TEARS” one of the fastest growing support groups in the City of Detroit and region. Additionally women can take advantage of Flip the Script’s latest program service model Beyond Jobs 2.0, funded by the Wal Mart Foundation. Beyond Jobs 2.0, is modeled after the success of Beyond Jobs 1.0. Services include entry level career development and exploration, employability skills development, placement assistance, financial literacy and life coaching.
