Academic Upgrade
Goodwill’s Detroit Career Center offers academic upgrade
services designed for persons who want to improve their
reading or math skills in order to become employed.
To be eligible for this service one must:
• Be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrollment
Basic Computer Training
A 16-week
course designed to develop entry-level skills in
contemporary office procedures. The course emphasizes
keyboarding skills with a target of 40 words per minute by
course completion. Concurrent with typing skills the student
receives introductory training in the Microsoft Office suite
of applications with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint. Minor academic remediation in arithmetic and
English is provided as required.
